Portrait Pop-Up: January 5th @ The Portland Studio

I’ve always loved making portraits of my friends, family, and even the strangers. They’re my favorite images and I hold ‘em dear. I think of how the person I’m shooting might look back on these portraits in a decade or two, how their children and grandchildren might look at these portraits even further down the road, and how these images might someday be one in a small string of photos that pays tribute to their life. It’s an honor to pass these images along to the subjects and the whole process has always felt very important and sacred to me.

In that vein, two of my favorite shoots this past year were individual portrait sessions that a friend of mine (shout-out to Sacha!) purchased as birthday gifts for friends. In addition to being an incredibly thoughtful gift, it was one of those great reminders that it shouldn’t take a graduation, wedding, or family reunion to have some professional photos taken. All those major life events are big and beautiful and important, but sometimes it’s nice to document life for life’s sake, to create a beautiful little time capsule of who you are here and now, in this quiet, in-between moment.

My goal with this portrait pop-up is to give individuals a chance to have their current selves documented at a professional studio in beautiful natural light for a reasonable price. The mini-sessions are 20-minutes each and will be held on Saturday, January 5 at The Portland Studio (www.ThePortlandStudio.com) in inner Southeast Portland. During these sessions we’ll hang out and play with a couple different backgrounds, angles, and poses; you’ll come away with 10 images, edited in both color and black-and-white and delivered digitally.

(Did I mention these sessions make a greeeeeeeeat gift?!)

I’ve got a list of FAQ’s below, but don’t hesitate to shoot me an email at aaron@aewessling.com or give me a text/ring at 786.218.4028 if you have any additional questions before booking.

I’m looking forward to this pop-up in a big way and can’t wait to see you at the studio next month!

Questions? Eh eh?

What to wear? What to wear? Whatever you feel comfortable wearing works best. We’re just hanging out for a bit and making some images in the process.

Should I bring anything with me? You don’t need to bring anything but your beautiful self, but if you have a meaningful object, heirloom, and/or prop that you think might be fun, bring it along and I’ll try to incorporate it into the shoot.

Not gonna lie- I get awkward in front of the camera. Can you work with that? Unless you’re an aspiring or professional model, chances are you haven’t spent a ton of time in front of a lens that isn’t imbedded in an iPhone. I’ve been doing this a while and at least one or two people in my life called me a nice enough guy, so think of it more as a twenty minute hang with a new friend in a studio with beautiful natural light. You know, just your usual Saturday morning…

Can I bring a friend with me? Or accompany the person I’m purchasing this session for? No problem at all. I’m down with whatever makes you comfortable.

Any additional details on where to park, what time to arrive, etc? I’ll send out an email a week before the shoot with some extra deets.

Do you have a cancellation policy? If you need to cancel the session, I’ll do my best to rebook it. If so, I’ll give you a full refund. But hey- wouldn’t it just be easier to regift this one anyway? ;)
